Introduction

This document describes the E911 (emergency location) feature in Sinch Contact Pro used in the US.

What is E911 feature

According to the requirements of the federal laws (Kari’s Law and Section 506 of RAY BAUM’S Act), Multi-line Telephone Systems (MLTS) must be able to:

  • Route an emergency call to a public-safety answering point (PSAP) without dialing any prefixes.
  • Deliver the caller's location and valid callback number.
  • Send a notification to onsite security personnel.

Sinch Contact Pro complies with these regulations and supports E911 feature via Inteliquent.

The supported agent application is Communication Panel. CDT and desk phones are not supported.

An admin or agent defines an emergency location and Inteliquent API validates the postal address. When an agent makes an emergency call, prefilled location data is provided with the call. When Sinch Contact Pro identifies it as an emergency call, it routes the call to the Inteliquent trunk with location information and a callback number.Inteliquent trunk routes the call to the nearest public-safety answering point (PSAP).Sinch Contact Pro sends a notification that an emergency call has been placed.
