Installing Microsoft SQL for Reporting Services
Reporting with MS Reporting Services requires Microsoft SQL Server, see the table in Supported Prerequisite Software Versions.
Because of TLS 1.2 support, OLE DB Driver needs to be installed separately. To use the new driver in existing applications, you should plan to convert your connection strings from sqlncli<x> or sqloledb, to msoledbsql.
Install the default installation with the following options:
-
SQL Analysis services component must be installed on the computer where the Reporting Database Server package will be installed.
-
SQL Reporting Services component must be on the server where the Standard Reports package will be installed. In the Reporting Services installation, choose the option Install, but do not configure the report server. Report server can be configured only after Reporting website is up and running
Typically, install all three SQL components on the server dedicated for reporting, and install both the Reporting Database Server and Standard Reports package on that server in their own virtual units.
When installing ASP environment (several customer systems on the same server), default installation cannot be used. See the chapter Creating ASP Environment.
Software supports only case insensitive/accent sensitive collations. For the collation list and instructions to define a collation, see the procedure in Installing Microsoft SQL Server Software.
As of SQL server 2014, select the server mode Multidimensional for the server where Standard Reports is installed for Microsoft Reporting use.
