Plan Server System
Databases
For databases you need a specific cluster server (or servers) with Microsoft SQL installed. If the databases are located on different servers or SQL instances, the servers must be linked. We recommend placing databases behind a firewall.
Monitoring Database Server, Reporting Database Server and History Database Server are required for collecting monitoring and reporting data. Reporting requires that Analysis Services and Reporting Services options are enabled when SQL is installed.
If there are several versions of databases on the same server, do not run them with a HAC.
Application Servers
The amount of servers where the system runs depends on the size and services of the system. The system can be installed on a single server for demo and training purposes but for real production systems they can be distributed on several servers.
See Master Guide for more discussion about different system landscapes, and Infrastructure Compatibility List.
Workstations
End-users use the system on workstations where the client terminal component is installed, and the actual interface is browsed with the Microsoft Internet Explorer. For more information about how to take different applications into use, see Client Workstation Guide.
End-users needs to have audio devices, such as a headset with microphone, or alternatively a desk phone to be able to make and receive calls. See Compatibility List for approved third party equipment that can be used with the system.
