Local File Locations for Prompts, Recordings and Voicemails

Note:

We recommend using the global file locations, otherwise special configurations or file replication is required.

To make sure that all functions work, use the global paths for saving the prompts, recordings and voicemail messages, and define that in System Configurator System Services > Prompt Settings/Recording Settings/Voicemail Settings/ > File Location.

In some special cases, the use of local file locations can be reasonable, for example, when the locations are so far apart that playing the audio files from the central location causes delay. In that case, take the following limitations into account. To give different servers an access, give read and modify rights for the account used for running the HAC service.

Local Prompt Locations

The local path is defined in IA as the MRS installation variable MRS-Specific Path for Prompts.

  • Either: Use a network share such as \\[SERVERNAME]\prompts and give the Agent Server(s) that are dedicated to administration, and all MRS servers in all locations of the system access to this share.

  • Or: Use a local MRS path, such as D:\Prompts, use exactly same path on all MRS servers in the system, and configure File Replication Server (FRS) so that all prompts are replicated on all MRS servers.

Local Recording Locations

The local path is defined in IA as the MRS installation variable MRS-Specific Path for Recordings.

  • Either: Use a network share such as //Recordings and give ALL Agent Servers (except those ones that are dedicated to administration only) and recording MRS servers in all locations of the system access to this share.

  • Or: Use a local MRS path, such as D:/Recordings, use exactly same path on all MRS servers in the system, and configure File Replication Server (FRS) so that all recordings are replicated on all MRS servers.

Local Voicemail File Locations

The local path is defined in IA as the MRS installation variable MRS-Specific Path for Voicemail Files.

  • Either: Use a network share such as //Voicemails and give ALL Agent Servers (except those ones that are dedicated to administration only), Batch Job Servers, Email Senders and MRS servers in all locations of the system access to this share.

  • Or: Use a local MRS path, such as D:/Voicemails, use exactly same path on all ALL Agent Servers (except those ones that are dedicated to administration only), Batch Job Servers, Email Senders and MRS servers in the system, and configure File Replication Server (FRS) so that all voicemails are replicated on all those servers.

    Note:

In a replicated system, all voicemail messages may not be heard in every location immediately.
