Defining Language Priorities

Use

You use this procedure to define the priority of other system languages. The default language of the system has been defined during installation.

Note: If you change the language priority, the new priorities are not taken into use in Restful Configuration Interface (RCI) before restarting the virtual unit where the Restful Interfaces package is installed. Contact Sinch to do this.

Prerequisites

You must have rights to modify the default system language.

Procedure

On the System Configurator main screen, choose System Management > System Languages and define the priority of languages.

Language priority in the System Configurator (SC) application

The language priority is as follows:

  1. SC language (English, German, French, or Japanese)

  2. User interface language if it is one of the four SC languages

  3. System default language

Language priority in end-user applications

The language priority is as follows:

  1. User interface language (Communication Panel,Dashboard, and Online Monitoring,)

  2. System default language

  3. The next match in the priority list (defined in SC)

example:

A system has a help desk queue that has been entered into the system in English and in Russian. The queue name is displayed to users as follows:

  • When the user interface language of a user is German and the system language is Russian, the queue name Help Desk is displayed in Russian.

  • When the user interface language of a user is German and the system language is Japanese, the name is displayed in the language with the higher priority (either English or Russian).

Prompt language in chat queues

The language for chat prompts is determined in the following way:

  1. When the chat language is defined in the chat client and the language is available in chat prompts, the language defined in the client is used.

  2. When the chat language is defined in the chat client but the language is not available in chat prompts, the system default language is used.

  3. When the chat language is not defined in the chat client, the extension or queue language is used if it's available in chat prompts. Otherwise the system default language is used.
