SC over DirectAccess
As of 1705 System Configurator (SC) can be accessed over DirectAccess, then users can log on to SC also outside the company network via internet, either via TLS or Secure WebSocket, depending on if SC connects to Connection Server or Connection Web Server in your system.
Using TLS and Connection Server
To configure Connection Server for DirectAccess:
- As a prerequisite, you need two IPv4 addresses that are visible through DirectAccess as a DNS name. Alternatively, you could also work with one IPv4 address, if you install Connection Server and Remote Administration Tools in same virtual unit.
- Install and configure Connection Server using the first prerequisite IPv4 address.
- Install and configure Remote Administration Tools into a virtual unit using the second
prerequisite IPv4 address and:
- Enter the DNS name of the first prerequisite address into the Connection Server Address setting in IA.
- Enter the DNS name of the second prerequisite address into the Web Server Address setting in IA.
Using Secure WebSocket and Connection Web Server
To configure Connection Web Server for DirectAccess:
- As a prerequisite, you need an IPv4 address that is visible through DirectAccess as a DNS name.
- Install and configure Connection Web Server using the prerequisite IPv4 address: In the IA setting URL for Clients to Connect to Connection Web Server, change the $VU_IP$ part of URL to the DNS name of the prerequisite address.
