Reporting Specifications

In this view you can specify the advanced attributes that are shown in Reporting for a user or user group. A reporting specification may also have a static value, such as a user's cost center. The specified attributes are not reported in any standard report but you must make a custom report. For instructions, see the Reporting Data Guide document.

Creating Specifications

  1. On the System Configurator main screen, choose Reporting > Reporting Specifications

  2. Click Add New.

  3. Enter a descriptive name. If you need to add a second language name, click Personalize, choose the language and click Select.

  4. In Details block, define the following items for a specification.

    • Target: Choose the advanced attribute that is reported.

    • Source: Choose the source attribute where the value for this reporting attribute is from.

      • For individual users, select CUSTOM1, CUSTOM2, CUSTOM3, FirstName, Surname, or User-Defined Value.

      • For user groups, select Name, or User-Defined Value.

    • Source Language: Choose the language that is prioritized to be used for the source. Mandatory, specification cannot be saved if the language is not defined.

    • Priority: If you make more than one definition for the same target attribute, you can define priorities for them. The definition with the highest value is used first.

  5. In Users block, apply the attribute specification to a user or a user group.

  6. For information about the rights assignment block, see Access Rights.

  7. Save your entries.

example:

A user belongs to the groups Group 1 and Group 2. The groups Group 1, Group 6, and Group 10 have the following attributes:

  • Target: Department

  • Source: Name

This means that the value for the reporting attribute Department is from the attribute Name.

The requested attribute is searched for in the groups to which the user belongs. If various values are found, the nearest one is used (in this case the different group branches are found from Group 1 and Group 6). The reporting specification has a priority value, which is used for solving the used value. If the priority is the same, the value is solved by checking the IDs in the ascending order.
