Handling Chat Requests

When you have accepted a chat request, it is opened on the Chat tab page and the functions in the view are activated.

  1. Enter your text into the field at the bottom of the dialog window.

Everything you enter into the dialog window is visible to everyone in the session until it is closed.

There is no limit for the text length. If the text is longer than the available space, the scroll bar appears. If you want to start a new line in the text, press Shift + Enter.

When you are in a chat discussion and you do not need the Scripting area, you can enlarge the Chat area by clicking the Expand button in the Chat area.

You can also copy text from the window that displays the chat discussion to another application for further processing. Select the text with a mouse, copy it using Ctrl + C and then paste it with Ctrl + V. Added in SP05.

You can also use templates in the chat discussion, if administrators have defined them for the chat queues.

  2. Send your chat message by pressing Enter or by clicking Send.

  3. To leave the chat session, click Close.

Notification: Chat is closed appears in the Chat area.

When you have no active chat sessions, the chat-related buttons are disabled and No active chats is displayed in the Information area.
